Virtual WaterFire June 5, 2020

Honoring Essential Workers, Teachers and Students!

K-6 Art Students may participate in this at-home WaterFire by submitting an artwork inspired by the photograph of WaterFire’s “Bridge of Stars”:

How to enter:

1. Students create a drawing of a star (inspired by WaterFire's Bridge of Stars pictures above).

2. Add in a wish...about the future, about the summer...any kind of wish!

3. The wish can be written on the star, or written somewhere else on the paper.

4. 8.5 x 11in printer paper is fine.

5. Make the drawing as colorful as possible!

6. Email the artwork in jpeg format with student's

first name and last initial and their school or town

to hbovenzi@fgschools.com 


All artwork is due by June 1st.

Thursday, June 4 6-8pm

"Unlimited Limitations" 

 Join us as we explore the unlimited creativity you can get out of limiting your media. Bring a variety of media, but you'll be challenged to limit yourself to using one!

(Drop & Draw was a hit last time, we had a blast creating, talking and "being"  together.  Please consider joining!)

RIAEA 2020 Educator’s Exhibit  

RIAEA Members are encouraged to submit an artwork for our first ever Virtual Art Educators Exhibit at Bannister Gallery!

Art submissions are due by June 15. In light of restrictions on large gatherings, our opening reception and awards will be conducted on June 22 following our annual end of year Member Meeting! More details and Zoom link to come.  Entry forms must be submitted with artwork images: ENTRY FORMGALLERY GUIDELINES .  All educator’s entering artwork must have a current RIAEA membership.

           Program Competition

The Wickford Art Association is pleased to announce that we have awarded four scholarships to graduating senior artists representing their communities.  WAA offers this program annually in conjunction with the RI Art Educator's Association.


This year, we recognize:

1st Place ($1500 Scholarship): Liliana Zapata - Smithfield High School, Smithfield

2nd Place ($1000 Scholarship): Enid Corcoran - Cranston High School East, Cranston

3rd Place ($750 Scholarship): Kashton Fielding - Pilgrim High School, Warwick

4th Place ($500 Scholarship): Victoria Venditto - Scituate High School, North Scituate
